Judy Martin's Bio

Judy Martin is an Emmy award-winning
broadcast journalist and speaker who gives an objective voice
to social issues, business news and the delicate balance
of working and living with purpose; in an era of great uncertainty.
She reports on the value of human capital as a contributing
editor to Motto Magazine, writes the monthly Work/Life column
for Long Island's Canvas Magazine, and is the Founder of
Work/Life Monitor.com.
Judy is a national radio contributor whose work has been
heard on NPR News, The World, BBC Radio 3, The World Vision
Report and The Marketplace Morning Report, where she spent
nearly four years in the New York City Bureau. For the last
15 years Judy has also continued her affiliation with the
News 12 Television Networks as an anchor/reporter and also
contributes to HD-News, a satellite headline news channel
which airs on the Dish Network. Prior to News 12, she reported
and anchored for Contact Long Island at PBS WLIW Channel
21, on Long Island.
During a brief departure from deadline news in the mid-1990's,
Judy appeared on PBS WXEL's magazine program, South Florida
Extra. During that time she also hosted a 13 part series
called Total Healing on PBS WLRN's Cable-TAP in Miami, and
produced nationally syndicated segments on medicine and women's
issues for Ivanhoe Broadcast News.
Judy has covered some of the greatest tragedies of our time
including the 9/11 Terror Attacks, Hurricane Andrew, the
genocide in Kosovo and the Avianca plane crash. But while
she has reported on the agony of great loss, she has also
witnessed the deep compassion of the human spirit as a volunteer
who works with the dying. Judy balances her career as a journalist,
with her work as an active volunteer with Hospice. Prior
to her work with hospice she ran a monthly program volunteering
with children living with HIV/AIDS at Incarnation Children's
Center in New York.
In the aftermath of September 11th, she reported by day
and worked with the children impacted by the terror attacks
by night. It was that experience which inspired her signature
lecture series, PRACTICAL CHAOS® Cultivating Work/Life
Resilience in a 24/7 Global Marketplace.
Judy has been the recipient of numerous awards including:
2006 Telly Award, 2006 Silver Angel Excellence in Media Award,
New York Emmy, National Press Foundation Economic Fellowship,
Associated Press Club Award, and numerous Long Island Press
Club Awards.
