Welcome to WomensEducationCenter.com and to our new Blog.
We are going to use the blog as a way to update you on important
news, upcoming events and any other information that
we think important to share with you.
Today I wanted to share with you a friend's story on her
fight with breast cancer. "Carmella" is a vibrant
50-something woman, has been coping with cancer for about
6 months. She is a therapist by trade with 2 Master's Degrees,
one in Social Work, the other in Psychology. This makes her,
what I would think a fairly intelligent person.
"Carmella" made her yearly appointment with her
gynecologist for her exam and mammogram. The unthinkable
was found - breast cancer. After many tests, the cancer has
already spread to her lymph nodes and brain.
You know this was devastating news for "Carmella." She
braced herself for what laid ahead; chemotherapy and radiation
to shrink the brain tumor, which was the most urgent part
of her cancer.
A woman of considerable financial means, "Carmella" was
able to get on a trial for a new cancer medication as part
of her treatment.
"Carmella" is one of the lucky ones. After chemotherapy,
radiation and the medication (which shrunk her brain tumor
over 60%) she was recently given great news - She is now
ones of thousands of women in breast cancer remission!
"Carmella" now knows how precious life is. She
takes one day at a time and is enjoying her life, grateful
to be given this second chance.
Many cancer survivors live each day like "Carmella." There
are those who are not as lucky and "Carmella" knows
this as well.
Carmella's" battle and survival has taught me many lessons.
The most important lesson she continues to teach me on a
daily basis. - Live each day as it comes and be positive,
it just may save your life someday.
